The annual Algae Biomass Summit was held in Denver, Colorado during the 23-27th of September. ABS is the biggest event of the algae industry with more than 800 participants this year, and of course Simris Alg was there. CEO Fredrika Gullfot held a presentation about commercialisation in a panel with representatives from Boeing, IATA and MARC-IV Consulting.
Simris Alg, with CEO Fredrika Gullfot, is part of a Swedish delegation to Qingdao during the 12-13th of September. The delegation is an initiative of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Sweden’s Innovation Agency VINNOVA. The objective is to encourage collaborations between China and Sweden within environmental innovations.

The home of Sweden´s first large scale cultivation of microalgae for the production of omega-3 is starting to take shape, in what used to be the premises of Hammenhög Frö. Our algae are going to be cultivated in the 2000 square metre large greenhouse, which will be refurbished and equipped during the summer. A whole new laboratory will be built in the additional 700 square metre warehouse.
During the latest Rapidusbaren we received the “Rapidus Creddar” award for building Sweden´s first commercial algae cultivation farm for omega-3s. Rapidusbaren is a monthly event held by the news service Rapidus and it is aimed at the businesses of the Öresund region. The event focuses on development and growth and it is organised together with Briggen, Awapatent, Industrifonden and Sparbanken Öresund.

Beautiful Business Awards is a national competition that promotes female entrepreneurs as role models. Organisers of the event are PwC, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the Driftig.nu network.
