Simris Alg attended the 25th Fi Europe Fair in Paris where we sensed the newest trends in the food ingredients industry and got the chance to taste a bit of the future. Needless to say, the future’s face is green, it’s concerned about its health and it is also very creative and certainly yummy!
Oh, and it is flirting a lot with algae…

Simris Alg and CEO Fredrika Gullfot have received the local “New Entrepreneur of the Year 2011” award. The title was awarded by NyföretagarCentrum of the Ystad-Österlen region during the annual Business Dinner in Simrishamn.

Algae Biomass Summit is the algae-world´s largest international industry event. This year the conference was held in Minneapolis. CEO Fredrika Gullfot was there to present “Simris Alg – the establishment of a Swedish algae industry”. Among other Swedish attendants were Eva Albers from Chalmers and Francesco Gentili from SLU Umeå.
CEO Fredrika Gullfot participated in a panel discussion about biomimicry, creating sustainable solutions based on nature’s design and processes. Under the direction of biomimicry expert Anna Maria Orru, also taking part in the panel were architect Michael Pawlyn, bio-designer Rachel Wingfield, marketing consultant Saskia van den Muijsenberg and textile designer Carole Collet.
Livsmedelsdagarna in Tylösand is the Swedish food industry’s big annual event with lectures, networking, good food and last but not least world class dancing. This year´s event took place between the 7-9th of September and the theme was “Innovation”. CEO Fredrika Gullfot was an invited speaker in the “Value-creating innovations” discussion section. During her presentation entitled “Blue is the new green: cultivated marine microalgae as the new crop for innovative foods”,
In the current issue of Livsmedelsföreningen´s magazine Livsmedel i Fokus, there is a spread on the topic “Microalgae hot as ingredients”. The article is even available online and the full issue can be downloaded here (Swedish).
